Siegfried Group to change to ‘functional organisation’
01 February 2010

The Siegfried Group has announced plans to replace its current two-division structure with a ‘functional organisation’ with effect from 1 March. This follows on from some strategic adjustments that were approved last summer.

As a result, the firm will increasingly market its two core capabilities, the development and production of APIs and finished dosage forms, as a single package. “In the future we will be able to convey this attractive offer in a more effective way,” said CEO Rudolf Hanko.

Since the sale of the Siegfried Biologics and Sidroga divisions in 2007, the company has been active in two divisions:

* Siegfried Actives, which develops and produces custom APIs and intermediates, plus patent-free substances, especially controlled substances for analgesics and narcotics

* Siegfried Generics, which develops and produces demanding generic dossiers and finished dosage forms, including inhalation products.

The former divisional heads, Hubert Stückler of Siegfried Actives and Marianne Späne of Siegfried Generics, will henceforth take change of worldwide technical operations and business development and sales respectively. The other board members, Rudolf Hanko, CFO Michael Hüsler and head of HR Hanspeter Brun retain their existing roles.

Peter Gehler, formerly chief communications officer, will head the new Corporate Centre, covering communication, the legal department, facility management and the chairman’s office. A new head of R&D has still to be appointed.
